Hurricane Ike slammed into Texas, but people living futhur inland, wasnt prepared for the winds and damage that Ike brought.
Sunday here in KY, the remnents of Ike came though causing massive amounts of damage.
Apparently Ike combined with a cold front that was coming through, caused 60-70 mph winds here and 80+ mph winds a little north of us.
70% of the people in our area were without electricity due to downed power lines, downed trees, stoplights were blown away with no trace, and transformers were overloaded.
As of yesterday there were still 17,000 without power.
Since we are so far inland, people here don’t pay attention to the hurricanes unless someone they love or know is in a hurricane area. After Sunday, I think more people here will watch and take notice.
Like the Boy Scouts, “be prepared!”
